Well, I definitely am NOT in Texas anymore. As a matter of fact, I am 1,697 miles away from where I called home for 17 years. I am currently in Oregon. (Did you notice the birds? Apparently, everything in Portland has a bird on it.) It's a great story, how I got here. Too many people have heard it, so I'll give you the short version.
At 18 years old I decided to marry a long time family friend, Sam, and we had a son, Sylar. Aaaand, it didn't work out. After 2 years of marriage we decided to divorce. Being the awesome parents that we were, we really didn't want to split Sylar. So, we shared, something most people learn to do as small children, but most separated adults seem to forget. So, I get a boyfriend, Cameron, who I have now been with for two years and is pretty much amazing. Sam gets a girlfriend, Amanda, who, I must say, is also pretty amazing. However, Amanda is moving back to Portland, Oregon. (You can see where this is going, right?) So, instead of breaking each other's heart, they decided that Sam should move, too. Great idea!! But only one problem, Sylar will be in Texas, his father will be in Oregon. How do we split him without causing any trauma? So, we decided 3 months Texas, 3 months Oregon. Good plan, good plan. So, Sy and I fly up to Oregon to start his 3 months and so I can see where he will be staying and what not. By the end of the weekend, I couldn't do it! Not seeing my baby that I have never been away from for 3 whole months?!?! And what happens if he gets sick, or hurt?? So, before my plane back to Texas takes off, I call Cameron and tell him I'm moving to Oregon, he can either come with me or stay in Texas. I figured it would be a pretty big conversation, long, tiring, and full of what if's. Turns out it was a two minute conversation where he said "I'm game." and I asked "Really?". So, we took a month and packed up everything we owned, threw it in my car, and made the 3 day journey to Oregon.
Ok so now that you're caught up on how we got here, I now live in Tualatin, Oregon in a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment with Cameron, Sylar, and Porkchop, our basset/wienie dog. I work as a waitress at a restaurant called Tebo's. I don't know why I never waitressed before, I really enjoy it!! Cameron works night at a store called Fred Meyer. For all of y'all back in Texas, its like a Wal*Mart but waaaay better. They call it Freddy's up here. I guess it's pretty much the same as us calling it Wally world.
There is also, as I mentioned, birds on everything. It's like seasoning to their arts and crafts! I've only been to the Saturday Market once, but I saw ALOT of birds. Saturday Market is like a HUGE arts and crafts fair they have every Saturday. It's pretty amazing and their food carts are to die for and pretty inexpensive. Definitely a must see if you're ever visiting Portland.
So, basically, I just moved to Portland after living in Texas since I was 6. I plan on exploring Oregon as much as I can, and I really want to write about it and post a few pictures if I can. Oh oh oh, also, my mother and aunt are moving here in January. I could not possibly be any more excited then I currently am! Now, even though Mt. Hood and the coast are huge things I should visit as a newly established Oregonian, I refuse to visit them until my mother gets here. It would be amazing to share that experience with her. Now, if only I could get more family to visit that would be amazing.
Well, my next few posts are probably going to be pretty boring. It's been a whole minute since I have done the blogging so I really just want to get back into it. Be prepared for some boring blogs about work, and dealing with Cameron and Doodle. They may not be the best, but I've been out of practice for too long. Well, y'all have a goodnight and I'll write more later!
YAY! I have another blogger friend!
